BRENDAN RODGERS has confirmed at his pre-match press conference that Celtic have ended their pursuit of Scott McKenna after a substantial bid was turned down for the player.

Chris McGlaughlin of the BBC was live tweeting from the conference and asked about the current state of play with Aberdeen.

The Celtic manager also addressed Dedryk Boyata’s whereabouts after the player did not make the trip over to Lithuania with the squad even though he had trained at Celtic Park today.

The Irishman said the defender was left behind due to an injury.

“He’s a young player that I like, however the clubs have spoken and it was made clear Scott won’t be for sale or available in this window. So that would end that.”

It’s hard to know what to believe now after the stung which was pulled Boyata last week to get out of the Athens trip. He looked fine this morning as the bhoys got put through their paces.

One thing is for sure, the player seems hell-bent on leaving the club this summer.

It remains to be seen if Rodgers will let the Belgian go without a replacement coming in.
