BRENDAN RODGERS looks set to bring in Cristian Gamboa and hand him his first Celtic start or appearance since February 18th against St Johnstone.

The Costa Rican right back has not been seen since the 0-0 draw with The Saints back in the deep dark days of winter but he may be getting ready to help Celtic on their quest for the riches of the Champions League.

Celtic stand to make upwards of £30million for another year in the Champions League if they can get there BUT will likely to be heading into a vital qualifier with some rusty players.

To put it into perspective, Gamboa has played the same amount of games last season for Celtic as he did for Costa Rica at the World Cup.

To refine it further the defender has played just five minutes more for Celtic last season than he played at the World Cup for Costa Rica – Playing 260 minutes for Celtic and 255 World Cup minutes with his country.

The 28-year-old could be tasked with helping keep out Rosenborg in what might just be his last chance to show Rodgers he can be trusted.

Of course, this is a problem made by Jozo Simunovic who was sent off in the last game against Aleshkert, so it’s not the ideal selection for the Celtic manager.

However, even going into a qualifier with Jack Hendry at right back is something of a gamble.

With a young untested defence it’s certainly going to be a nervy night at Celtic Park unless Celtic can settle the crowd with an early goal.
