BRENDAN RODGERS has welcomed back former Celtic and Gordon Strachan signing Andreas Hinkel to Lennoxtown today as the bhoys get out through their paces before tomorrow’s big game against Salzburg.

Hinkel signed back with Celtic in 2008 and was a popular figure among the support.

The right back signed from Sevilla for Gordon Strachan for £1.9million.

Since retiring the German has gone into coaching and has been coaching at Stuttgart.

Picking up his UEFA badges the player even became the interim Stuttgart manager for a short period.

Brendan Rodgers will no doubt be giving Andreas some words of wisdom as the former Celtic right back observes the bhoys training.

Hinkel has looked back fondly at his time with Celtic and said in an interview last year it was just s shame he was cheated out of a medal or two by a financially does Ibrox outfit.

Speaking last year he told Record Sport:

“It’s a shame because Rangers spent so much money on players when the truth of the matter was they didn’t have any to spend.”

Brendan Rodgers seemed all business today as he took training. The manager knows how important tomorrow night’s game is for the club.

We hope Hinkel has learned from his visit.
