According to reports overnight, Brendan Rodgers tried an eleventh-hour approach to try and land his former Celtic star Callum McGregor.

The Daily Mail print edition claims the Irishman came in with a very late bid for the Scottish midfielder after the manager looked to spend some of the cash from the Harry McGuire transfer to Manchester United.

However, Football Scotland reports Dermot Desmond himself told Brendan Rodgers and Leicester the deal would not be happening even with the club ready to spend a reported £20m to secure Callum.

Celtic lost Keiran Tierney on the English deadline day for a record breaking fee – had Celtic fans see Callum head out the door two there could have been a massive uproar.

Brendan Rodgers has been a big admirer of McGregor after helping turn him into the player he is today. Celtic fans must be wary of a January bid for their player now but hopefully, by then, Rodgers will have moved on.

  1. This is it starting again, Celtic preparing us for them selling Calmac. Celtic are a run for profit business now, football is secondary.

    • Selling one more prominent player from that team will prove disastrous for 9 and 10. Bags-o-Dough, rotten team. And please Lennie don’t gimmie me all this stuff about buying 4/5 more player in this window. You’ve had two months to do so. I bet that’ll be it until Jan.

  2. Buy the fuckers out make Celtic a fans only club, how many free shares has lawwell been given. every year plus £1million in wages. if you don’t stop the rot now we will never get out the bit.split the 25million with all the shareholders a take it or leave it offer

  3. Every Hoops player has a price on his back or a target. As that’s life and business practice for the Celtic suits. They could invest at least a quarter of recent transfers wiithin the last fou years about £17M but they refuse. Just like the auld crew they ousted, twentyfive years ago..
My da is always reminding me that ‘All those European runs from’ 65-75 were did all that cash go??’ Certainly not on the main stand remodel. And as mentioned earlier, sold most of the Lions and first team, then King Kenny. Then replaced them with shoddy but exceptable (to them) replacements. So here we go again.
