BRENDAN RODGERS appears to belittle his achievements at Celtic by categorising it as winning ‘a few trophies’.

This was off the back of being asked where the achievement of a top-four finish would rank if he could get his Leicester side over the line. The Irishman said it would be up there for him.

“If we were to do it, it would be up there. Celtic were a different challenge.” Rodgers told RecordSport.

“We got into the Champions League and won a few trophies, fantastic.

“Coming to Leicester there’s not that expectancy. My challenge was: ‘Could I take the club to the top six?’ We’ve done that in our first full season. Now our goal is to arrive in the top four.”

It shows you the disparity in ambition between the two clubs. A top-four finish or even a top-six finish is enough for their supporters and their manager. Is it anywhere near an invincible treble?

Any achievements which happen in Scotland aren’t looked at as anything important down south. The reasoning being we might win things but look at how much money they have to spend on players!

If Brendan Rodgers managed to take Leicester to the pinnacle again like Ranieri did, that would certainly be up there. Right now, his team look average and if he squeezes into the top four, it touches nothing that he done with Celtic.
