BRENDAN Rodgers has addressed the social media post made by Sead Haksabanovic, in which the Montenegrin winger expressed his frustration about his situation at Celtic.

Sead Haksabanovic Celtic

Earlier this week, Haksabanovic posted a photo of himself in a Celtic jersey with the caption, “If they don’t see your value maybe you’re not at the right place,” seemingly airing his grievances about his time at the club.

As the transfer deadline nears, it appears that Haksabanovic’s future may be away from Celtic. Stoke City and Greek side PAOK have shown interest in the winger. PAOK may have the upper hand in negotiations, as their transfer window remains open beyond the 11 pm deadline for Stoke City and the midnight deadline for Celtic.

Rodgers revealed that he spoke with Haksabanovic about the situation and admitted that the situation was “surprising.”

During his press conference, Rodgers stated, “To be fair, I’m not on social media, so I don’t know, but yeah, I did speak to him on it. I was a bit surprised, to be honest. From when I came here, he has been offered nothing but respect by everyone and certainly by myself in terms of communication with him. But this is a new generation and a new wave of players, so yeah, but it doesn’t matter to me.”

The situation adds another layer of intrigue to what has been a busy transfer window for Celtic, who are also preparing for a significant match against Rangers this weekend. Whether Haksabanovic remains with the club past the transfer deadline or finds himself on the move, it’s clear that the final hours of the window could prove crucial for several players and the team as a whole.

  1. Haksa was aiming his comment at Rodgers not his teammates. Why? Rodgers had suddenly iced him, and no doubt has upset both Hatate and Iwata, while going with forwards like Maeda, Abada and out of form midfielders McGregor, Turnbull etc. and the two passengers playing fullback, (players that basically struggle with the ball at their feet). The last partial sentence displays Rodger’s apathy ‘but it doesn’t matter to me.’
I thought from what I read but do not believe Rodgers was supposed to make players better! What happened to the ‘clean slate’ for all players?
