BRENDAN RODGERS was asked to give his thoughts on the outgoing Peter Lawwell after Celtic confirmed the Chief executive would be stepping down in June.

Rodgers worked under Peter for two and a half years and it’s fair to say they had their ups and downs.

However, Brendan was full of praise for the outgoing CEO. The Leicester boss praised Peter’s passion for Celtic.

Towards the end of his comments, he did admit it was a long time for a CEO to be in charge of the same club.

Dermot Desmond was the man to bring Rodgers to Celtic and it was Peter’s job to facilitate the Irishman. During Rodgers tenure, we had incredible success, but it was clear Rodgers vision wasn’t the same as Lawwell’s.

Changing the goalposts over the Cristiano Piccini deal after the player flew into Glasgow rubbed Rodgers the wrong way. So did Peter’s inability to sign Celtic fan John McGinn from Hibs when it seemed like an open goal.

Lawwell always aired on the side of caution and would rarely take risks. Perhaps you could say sometimes Rodgers won; shelling £9m out of Odsonne Edouard was something that probably made Peter’s eye twitch.
