FORMER CELTIC midfielder Gary Mackay-Steven has cut all ties with Scottish football this evening as he is announced as a New York City FC player.
The ex-Deila signing who left Celtic for Aberdeen under Brendan Rodgers has now left the Dons to head stateside for a new adventure.
Mackay-Steven has been playing in Scottish football for the better part of a decade. He was signed for Celtic after impressing for Dundee Utd. It was GMS and Stuart Armstong who came in under Ronny Deila with many believing the wee man would be the standout of the pair.
It turned out to be the opposite with Stuart excelling and GMS a bit part player. Rodgers let the midfielder go after admitting he had no game time for the Scottish star. Aberdeen signed the player and he has done well up north, he has now decided to cut ties with Derek McIness’ side and go for something different in the MLS.
