Brendan Rodgers has told Celtic TV he’s looking forward to the game against The Rangers on Sunday and admitted he will look forward to seeing Steven Gerrard.
The Irishman has seen off three separate Ibrox managers during his two year spell at Celtic Park and will now face his former player in the dugout this weekend.
“I’m looking forward to seeing Steven, he was a god guy, we worked well together at Liverpool.” Rodgers admitted.
Asked if it makes any difference to the Celtic boss that Steven Gerrard will be in the dugout, the double treble boss said it wasn’t about the manager but the players on the park.
“Whatever coach or manager is there at the time, it’s irrespective to me – it’s really about looking at them and how then obviously preparing the team to win the game.
“Focus on the performance, there’s no doubt Steven has made a change to them, a positive change.”
The first Glasgow Derby will have a different feel to many others in the past with just a small travelling contingent from Govan.
This was due to the Ibrox board taking the decision to cut Celtic fans allocation to just 800 because the sight of the Celtic fans partying in the whole Broomloan Road stand was too much to handle for some.
Celtic go into the game ahead of The Rangers in the league and will hope to create some distance between themselves and their Glasgow rivals.

Brendan, always the consummate diplomat, kind and polite words for anyone, other than a tribute fan that is.
The Hoops faithfull will be singing ‘Walk on’. And SG can join in for the chorus
As sevco can’t sing it for him those sad paupers. And all he has done for them lately. By the end of the geme they will be going back to their swamp very unhappy.
