BRENDAN RODGERS has shut up some eternal moaners and pundit’s who have been criticising the Irishman over not playing Charly Musonda.

The Chelsea midfielder joined Celtic on an 18-month loan deal in January but has seen little game time after a couple of games in February, including a substitute appearance in the Europa League where Charly masterfully set up the winning goal against Zenit.

Pundits and fans have been wondering what the player is doing at Celtic if he’s not starting games but Brendan Rodgers has set the record straight on what he expects from Charly.

“He knows he is here for the 18 months and by the end of that, he knows he is going to be a better player.” Said Rodgers.

“It’s a different type of loan for Charly compared to when he went to Spain and had to succeed straight away. Here he has 18 months to settle in, find the way of working and realising the pressures of a big club like Celtic.

“But he’s enjoying every minute of
it and he knows that over time here that he will get an opportunity to show it in training where he works well and then in the games. It’s just time, that’s all.”

Celtic are one game away from the league championship and have a massive game against The Rangers at Hampden on Sunday.

Charly is likely to see more game time once the league is wrapped up, as will a number of youngsters.
