Idah’s goal helped Celtic move 13 points clear of Rangers at the top of the Premiership, and Rodgers believes the 23-year-old is now fully embracing the responsibility of being Celtic’s main man up front.

Speaking after the game, Rodgers was full of admiration for how Idah has stepped up since Kyogo Furuhashi’s departure, relishing the opportunity to become the club’s first-choice striker. [TCW]

“Yes, he was always going to have to be patient here and obviously the nature of having a brilliant, striker in Kyogo, that fit a lot of how I want the team to play and pressing and everything else. So he comes in and he has to sort of fit around that, but he still made big contributions.

“But now I think he’s taken that responsibility now. He sees this as an opportunity for him because he knows it’s something you have to produce and you have to produce consistently. I’m so pleased for him.

“He’s just moving different now and again he was a real handful tonight. And his goal was very good, makes a good run, gets his shot off, doesn’t lie about the floor, gets up and then he’s able to get the rebound and it was a really good finish. So, yes, I’m very pleased for him.”

Since stepping into the main striker role, Idah has shown consistency, composure, and physicality—qualities that have made him vital to Celtic’s current run. His recent performances suggest he’s thriving under the pressure, delivering goals at crucial moments as Celtic push towards another league title.

Everyone knew that he had goals in him; he just needed a consistent chance to get up to speed and start banging them in.

With his confidence soaring, Idah’s form could be a key factor for Celtic—not just domestically but also in their upcoming Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.

He’s set to lead the line for the Hoops and will likely have Jota and Kuhn alongside him, with Maeda suspended for the first leg.
