Brendan Rodgers has made it clear he will not tolerate another transfer window like the one Celtic endured this summer if he is to remain at the club beyond this season.

The manager, whose contract expires at the end of the campaign, has already admitted he would be open to signing a new deal under the right conditions.

But when pressed by Sky Sports on whether assurances were needed to prevent a repeat of this summer’s fiasco, his answer was immediate and emphatic.

“Yes,” Rodgers replied, without hesitation.

The short but defiant response shows the scale of frustration felt by the Celtic boss after a window that saw key departures unaddressed, late scrambles for free agents and a damaging Champions League elimination at the hands of Kairat Almaty.

Rodgers has been clear throughout that timely investment is essential if Celtic are to compete at the highest level. His insistence on guarantees before committing his long-term future places further pressure on the board, who are already facing fan protests and a vote of no confidence.

With supporters overwhelmingly siding with the manager, Rodgers’ one-word answer could prove decisive in shaping what comes next, either forcing change at boardroom level or opening the door to his departure next summer.

Clearly the players aren’t playing for you any more and the real fans are sick of the slow, boring “Let’s pass backwards and if that fails, I got no other ideas” football.
Nuno Espírito Santo and Maurinho are available. If we were serious about wanting to advance in Europe and beat the Hun, these are the types of managers we need. You know, guys that actually manage.
