BRENDAN RODGERS could be ready to spring a major surprise at Ibrox by including at least one Celtic player who has had a longterm layoff.

The Celtic manager would be taking a gamble if he were to play Boyata, Armstrong or Roberts at Ibrox today but only last week the Irishman was talking about the level of fitness he has his players at, even if they haven’t had game time.

“If you look at my players, like Callum McGregor who comes in and out of the side, I know I can bring him in after a few games off and he’s ready to go because of the levels he and my players train at”

“There’s an intensity to their training, Boyata is another one who can just slot right back in the side if need be”

Marvin Compper started his first match for Celtic in last weekends win over Morton – but it remains to be seen if Rodgers thinks Marvin should start at Ibrox.

With Boyata back fit the Celtic gaffer has the luxury of choice and Armstrong being available gives the opportunity to spring a surprise.

It’s less likely that Rodgers would go with Roberts as Forrest is currently in the form of his life.
