Brendan Rodgers ‘Very Disappointed’ by Developments

BRENDAN RODGERS has told Celticfc.net he’s ready for Celtic’s seven games in four weeks after drawing breath during the international break and he was also ‘very disappointed’ to see Alan Stubbs get sacked after such a short period of time as his side get to take on St Mirren.

The Irishman says it has been a pretty hectic three months since the start of pre-season until now and it’s right to take stock after everything that’s gone on.

“It’s been nearly three months so it’s been such a busy period. I like to have thinking time to go away and take stock of everything that’s gone on.

“When you’re trying to be creative as a manager you need that time to reflect. I try to take that opportunity to do that when possible.

“We still have a group of players who have still been here working. We’ve all met up now and we’re preparing for our next batch of seven games inside four weeks.”

It was disappointing not to qualify for the Champions League as well as having to handle Dedryck Boyata and Moussa Dembele into the bargain.

It has been hectic for Celtic but the manager rose above all the adversity thrown at him to make sure Celtic put The Rangers back in their box two weeks ago.

With his whole squad back now, the Celtic manager is looking forward to future challenges and it starts this Friday against St Mirren.

“I grew up with Celtic playing games at Love Street when the two sides met and it was always a renowned Scottish ground,” said Rodgers. “They have a different stadium now and nice so it will be interesting to play in that for the first time.

“I’m obviously very disappointed for Alan and how quickly in the season he’s lost his job. He’s an excellent coach and manager but he’s now gone and Oran Kearney has come in.”

Alan Stubbs was relieved of his managerial duties after just four games. The rumours doing the rounds in Paisley said the manager had already lost the confidence of his dressing room in such a short period of time.

It will be up to Celtic to make sure there is no new manager bounce that you so often see after a new man comes in.

The hoops will have to be on their guard from the start in order to continue their momentum.
