Former Rangers star Brian Laudrup has lavished praise on Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic as they look to close in on another league title.

The Hoops sit nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership after 25 games and have shown no signs of blinking as they have only lost one league match in their past 57 games.

Since Michael Beale arrived at Ibrox, the challengers have remained unbeaten domestically but that is of no concern to Postecoglou’s side who just continue to tick off matches as the Hoops goal difference continues to grow every other week.

When Giovanni van Bronckhorst departed Ibrox, it was going to take some turnaround for whoever took over the role in the dugout to get anywhere near Celtic.

In the derby game just after New Year, Beale’s side couldn’t afford anything less than a win and although the Hoops weren’t at their best, they still managed to take a point from the game. At that point it would have taken a meltdown from the Scottish champions to let slip of their lead at the top of the table.

“At the moment, the Ibrox players might feel like they’re running on the spot when they look at the nine-point gap to Celtic staying unchanged,” said Laudrup speaking in The [Scottish Daily Mail].

“It brings a psychological challenge to every Premiership game. So far under Beale, their response has been excellent.

“Nine wins and a draw from ten league matches is a superb start for any manager. The problem for Beale, of course, is that Ange Postecoglou and his men don’t show any sign of blinking at all.

5th February 2023; McDiarmid Park, Perth, Scotland: Scottish Premiership Football, St Johnstone versus Celtic; Celtic fans celebrate with the team

“Celtic have taken a remarkable level of relentlessness and turned it into their normal way of working. It’s become expected. Game after game, month after month.”

Both sides will next face each other in the final of the Viaplay Cup and although it is a one-off match, the Hoops will hope to once again stamp their authority.

All Beale has done since arriving in Glasgow is talk about the league leaders and Postecoglou. Celtic will have a firm focus on doing their talking on the pitch.
