SEBASTIAN LARSSON has told a Swedish Newspaper it would be a fantastic coup for Swedish football if they could bring Mikael Lustig home this summer.

The former Premier League star who currently plays for AIK doesn’t claim to have any inside information other than what’s available to the rest of us but he’d love to see his former Sweden teammate back in his home country and more specifically with AIK!

“I don’t know exactly how his situation looks at Celtic.”

“It would be good for all Swedes and Swedish football if he moved home and I want him in AIK.”

Lustig is in the last six months of his deals but Celtic have a clause in his contract to trigger a further year if they so wish. From what we gather, Brendan Rodgers has not made a decision on the player’s future yet and we will find out nearer the end of the season.

Lustig has expressed a desire to play back in his homeland BUT only if Celtic don’t want to renew his contract. The defender doesn’t want to leave Parkhead just yet.

Jeremy Toljan has come in on loan and will perhaps get a run of games after replacing Lustig at half time versus St Johnstone.
