Celtic must forge ahead without their captain for the foreseeable future after Ronny Deila confirmed that Scott Brown will be out for the next 12 weeks.

With Ajax in town for Celtic’s Europa League clash tomorrow and a busy festive period ahead it comes as a big blow to the team.

Reports suggest that it is a knee injury which will keep the Celtic captain out.

The team looked laboured against Kilmarnock, contesting a 0-0 draw at the weekend and the challenge doesn’t get any easier without Brown in midfield.

It will now be up to others to step up and show what they can do. Kris Commons and Charlie Mulgrew look less likely to fill that midfield void in the short term as Ronny admits Thursday’s came comes too soon for both.
