CHRIS SUTTON believes the Glasgow Derby on Sunday proves Celtic still have a player in Scott Brown and that the midfielder should resist the urge to move elsewhere if a contract is on the table from Celtic.
Scott Brown had a good game as Celtic played out a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park. Our captain helped dictate the play at times and mopped things up when he needed to.
It was a better performance than we’ve seen from the player as of late.
Many believe the Celtic hero should leave at the end of the season or at least move into a coaching role at Celtic Park but Sutton believes there’s still fight in the Celtic captain.
“Scott Brown showed me once again why talk of moving into a coaching role at this stage of his career is simply not an option.
“Much was made of the leadership qualities he displayed prior to kick-off when he marched into the opponents’ half during the warm-up to give his support to Glen Kamara.
“But it was the way he competed against the Finn and the rest of the Rangers midfield for the 90 minutes that followed that was the key takeaway for me from a match that meant very little.
“Brown proved again he’s good enough to keep going at this level and should be nowhere near Aberdeen or a coaching role in the summer.
“The 35-year-old’s place is at Celtic Park helping with any transition and being the glue for the club when the big changes are made.”
We can debate it all we like but it really should be up to the new DoF and manager when they come in. If they see value in Broony staying then that should be good enough for any dissenting voices.
There is something in me that would like to see Broony stay and compete to try and win our trophy back next term but not out of pity, he has to be up for it and he has to be an asset for that to happen.
SB is still a good player,but not for me it takes most of the season to warm him up to get a good game only from him we would be better spending his wage on a new face…
