CALLUM MCGREGOR has told the media Kris Boyd has reached out to him after the controversy caused by the former Ibrox striker.

Boyd used a column to ask why nobody tested Callum’s face mask during the Glasgow Derby at the beginning of February.

Callum had suffered multiple fractures in his face against Alloa in the Scottish Cup but could come back from injury early if he wore a protective mask – not unlike what you’ve seen in other leagues.

The Celtic captain led by example that night and helped the Hoops to a 3-0 victory over their Glasgow rivals.

We at CeltsAreHere were one of the first to take exception to the language used by Kris Boyd who appeared to advocate rival players further injuring Callum to try and take him and Celtic out of the game.

Celtic issued a social media communication over the weekend to say they were aware of comments made.

Callum has now revealed he and Kris had a conversation.

The Hoops captain was clear it was a poor choice of words, but they move on.

Kris is a cheerleader for the Ibrox club, he is in no way an impartial pundit. Even if he was impartial, the guy isn’t equipped to talk about football to a broad audience of people.

Having pals in the media certainly helps his cause.
