Celtic failed to retake a three-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday evening. A 1-1 draw at home to Kilmarnock was a hugely disappointing result that jeopardises the Hoops’ title hopes.

It looked as though it would be a routine victory for The Bhoys when Kyogo opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark. David Watson, however, had other ideas, nodding home late on to steal a point for Killie.

After the game, manager Brendan Rodgers took responsibility for the result on his shoulders although Callum McGregor did make a concerning acknowledgement about some members of the Parkhead dressing room.

Speaking to CeltsAreHere post-match, the skipper admitted that, potentially, the message of having to perform and win every week has yet to get through to some players. He said: “We have to find a way to communicate and make the players aware that when they go on the pitch, there’s a certain standard that’s required”.

After he said this, McGregor was asked if the message of the level required was yet to hit home for some players. He replied: “When you keep finding yourself in this position, then maybe.”

From last season to the current one, there have been a few alterations to the squad but apart from two players (Luis Palma and Adam Idah), every starter in the Hoops’ team today has won a league title with the club.

There are a lot of new names who are regularly among the subs and if they do not know the required standard at the club, fans are right to have their concerns about how the gaffer is managing his players.

    • Spot on.

Wouldn’t be so bad but he has zero leadership skills to make up for his slow, sideways, safe passing.

What an example for rest of the squad when they see his piss poor displays week after week yet he is guaranteed a place.

  1. A kick in the bawz universal warning!!!!!

More Celtic players need a swift kick in the scrotez

Either that or wage drop time!!!!!!

    The fans pay so display…

  2. Players are playing to Rodgers garbage style.
Callum should not criticised as this is Rodgers way.
I used to blame Scott Brown for the dire sideways & backward passing, a type of football which is completely negative and doesn’t create chances.
Once again as Killie came out of defending Rodgers had no plan B, he is stuck with negative football and is going to lose the league.
I said back in November that Rodgers had to go before it was to late, The result against The Rangers saved the fans from revolting at that time.
Rodgers is not the man for Celtic.
Lawell is mot the man foe Celtic.
I am getting increasingly concerned that DD is doing nothing for the club.
He should sell up and let ambitious people take over.
