CALLUM MCGREGOR was pictured at Tynecastle with significant facial injuries. The captain does not have a time frame for his return, but these images don’t look too promising.

His cheek is severely swollen, with dark bruising. His eye also looks swollen. This is the face of someone who has been assaulted.

The Scotland International has been immense this season for his team, his time out will have an effect on the team, however, his presence in the stadium is significant. That is the actions of a leader.

Celtic are incredibly lucky that recruitment in early damage seen multiple midfielders walk through the door. Without this, the outcome of Wednesday night’s game could have been very different.

As Celtic pushes for the title, squad players will play a key role. Whether they step in to allow for rotation or to fill a gap for a player sidelined the role they play will be extremely important.

Fans are hoping their captain can make a swift return, especially with an important Glasgow Derby less than a week away.

Seeing Callum at the game on Wednesday, despite his injury was a massive statement by the captain. He was there to support the team, as captains do. You can certainly see Broony’s influence on the current captain.
