Callum Osmand’s Brilliant Celtic Gesture

Callum Osmand has already produced a couple of moments Celtic supporters will not forget. Now the young striker has shown another side to himself, one that will only strengthen the connection he has built with the support.

Osmand was not called upon in Celtic’s opening Premiership win over Dundee, meaning he is still waiting for his first competitive appearance of the 2026/27 campaign.

That will not change how he is viewed by many supporters.

The 20-year-old’s breakthrough moments last season ensured his name was already etched into plenty of memories. He scored against Rangers in the League Cup semi-final in November 2025 during Martin O’Neill’s first spell as interim manager, announcing himself on one of the biggest stages available.

His momentum was then halted by a knee injury that kept him out for six months.

When he finally returned, he picked up where he had left off.

His simple finish into an empty net against Hearts sealed another league title for Celtic, prompting huge celebrations inside Celtic Park and giving supporters another moment to remember.

Now he has given one young fan a memory that stretches well beyond anything that happened on the pitch.

A video shared online shows Osmand stopping for a photograph with a young supporter. At a later match, the same fan asked if he could have the striker’s boots. 

Rather than brushing off the request, Osmand told him to wait by the stadium car park. He later returned from his car carrying a pair of his training boots, signed them, and handed them over personally.

It was a small gesture in the grand scheme of things, but those moments are often the ones supporters remember most. For a young fan, meeting a player is special enough. Going home with a signed pair of boots is something that will be talked about for years.

Osmand is still only at the beginning of his Celtic career, but he already seems to understand the relationship between players and supporters. That connection is built as much through moments like this as it is through goals.

His challenge now is to force his way into Martin O’Neill’s plans.

The arrivals of Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh mean competition for places is stronger than ever. Every opportunity will matter, and Osmand knows he cannot afford to let many pass him by.

The talent is there and the supporters are already behind him. If he can add consistency to the big moments that have defined his early Celtic career, there is every chance he becomes much more than an impact player over the course of the season.
