Cameron Carter-Vickers picked up a winners medal in the League Cup Final on Sunday – continuing his great run at Celtic and proving the doubters wrongs

However, because he’s been playing so well, the inevitable question about signing for Celtic permanently is going to come up a lot between now and the end of the season.

The Bhoys have the best defensive record in the league and also hold the first silverware of the season thanks to a brace from Kyogo at Hampden park.

Cameron is contracted to Spurs for one more season after this one and his future will have to be sorted out sooner rather than later.

Asked about the chance of signing with Celtic on a permanent basis, the defender was not giving anything away talking live on the radio as cited by HeraldSport.

“I am enjoying playing out there,” he said. “It is all going well.

“I think it is a little bit too early to say [where my future lies].

“It is not purely down to me as well. Obviously, discussions are to be had at the end of the season.”

Celtic fans would love to see a deal being done. The Hoops have a first option on the defender’s deal but it’s reported to be around £6m. Will Celtic shell out that much on a player heading into the final year of his deal?

The American international has delivered stability to Celtic at the back. It would be crazy not to at least attempt making his stay permanent.

  1. If we can pay £7.5M for Chris Julien then we can pay £6M for CCV, and I don’t care if he only has 1 month left on his contract…Make a statement here Celtic and show that mob across the river we mean business…get this and the Jota deals done sooner rather than later.
