Celtic centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers is doing extra work behind the scenes to help prevent more injuries.

The American colossus has been plagued by fitness issues throughout his spell in Glasgow, having to get an operation on his knee towards the end of the 2022/23 season.

He then played 31 of his side’s 50 games last term, with a hamstring injury keeping him out for a chunk of the campaign.

As the new season emerges, the 26-year-old is desperate to maintain fitness and has lifted the lid on the extra work he is carrying out to help him do so.

“I’ve been trying to work on the areas I struggled with physically last year”, he said (RecordSport).

“It’s not massive changes but little things you can maybe do before or after training to help with little problems you may have. Every player has them. It’s just about tailoring it to you and what you need.

“Getting a good pre-season and getting up and running correctly definitely helps.”

The USA international is arguably one of Celtic’s most important players. The stability he brings to the backline is next to none.

If the Hoops are to succeed both domestically and in Europe this year, Carter-Vickers will have to be fit for a sizeable chunk of the season.

Off the back of penning a new deal with the champions in January, it looks as though the defender is in Glasgow for the long haul.
