Celtic’s Alistair Johnston was in action overnight for his country in the Concaf Nations League.

The Hoops defender played the full 90 minutes for Canada as they swept aside Honduras in a 4-1 win in Toronto.

Johnston played well and vitally came through the game unscathed. The right-back will now be due to fly back to Scotland in the next 24 hours to rejoin his Celtic teammates ahead of the title run-in.

Johnston signed for the club in December and was registered to play in January. Since then, he’s gone about his business very well. He’s impressed the Celtic fan base on and off the field.

The Canadian supporters love Alistair too. Before the game against Honduras, a snap of one fan holding up AJ with the Ballon d’or trophy was circulated online. The campaign starts now!

The Celtic star won the first top flight medal of his career when the Hoops beat The Rangers 2-1 at Hampden in February. Alistair now has the chance to win even more silverware with a league title and the Scottish Cup still up for grabs.

As the only cliche goes, it’s one game at a time. Next up for Celtic is Ross County in Dingwall.
