CHRIS SUTTON has delivered his own verdict on who he thinks should start up top for Celtic on Sunday against The Rangers.

It’s been the biggest debate between Celtic supporters all week. Who should the manager go with now that both are fit and healthy.

We’ve ran an instagram poll with over 4k participants and that came out 61% in favour of Giakoumakis starting the derby

A lot of the statisticians out there believe Kyogo has to start for the bhoys for the simple fact the Japanese striker is Celtic’s best player.

So where does Chris Sutton fall?

Writing in his RecordSport column, Sutton explained:

‘If it was my decision, I’d go with Giakoumakis.

‘I almost can’t believe I am saying that because Kyogo has been an absolute star since joining the club.

‘The Japanese striker was in electric form in the first half of the season and marked his return to the starting line-up for the first time since Boxing Day with a smart goal against Ross County which took his team a big step towards the title.

‘However, as I think back to the previous meetings of the sides since the turn of the year and the way they have gone for Celtic, it edges me towards a preference for Giakoumakis in the central attacking role.’

Ange won’t moan at anyone for having this sort of problem. There was a point in the season when neither were available for the manager.

Reading between the lines during Ange’s press conference on Friday afternoon, I’d say Kyogo should get the nod. The Celtic manager spoke of how his whole squad has been the reason why Celtic are in a great position and made it clear whoever doesn’t start will see game time on Sunday.

Celtic could effectively win the title with a victory against Old Firm FC. It’s going to be an interesting afternoon to say the least. Whoever starts up front, let’s hope they can do the business.

Who would you go with?

  1. I would play both. I would skip the right wing and let Kyogo and Jota run all over the front line, constant;y inter-changing, right, lrft and centr. I would leave Giak to the central rough up and hold up role he has played so well in, in the previous games.
