CARL STARFELT has been sent home from the Swedish camp after he was stretchered off before halftime against Slovenia in the country’s Nations League tie on Thursday night. [Daily Record]

The 27-year-old defender provided fans with an update, revealing he wasn’t too sure about the extent of his injury. However, he did admit it didn’t feel too good, describing the intense pain he felt.

However, the latest news from the Swedish camp doesn’t sound too optimistic. With three games of the international break to play, Starfelt will not participate. Instead, the centre back will return to Glasgow to be assessed as Ange Postecoglou’s anxiety grows.

As things stand, Celtic’s first choice centre-backs are out of action. Carter-Vickers’ signing hasn’t been confirmed yet, and Starfelt is injured. It leaves Celtic in a sticky situation, bringing in a defender to provide cover to the starting pair. If it wasn’t already a priority, it is now.

Hopefully, Starfelt’s injury doesn’t keep him out for too long, with pre-season to commence later this month.
