Carl Starfelt wasn’t part of the squad to take on Wolves in Dublin on Saturday. The bhoys were unlucky not to win the game that ended 1-1 in the end.

A dive by Matt Doherty in the last five minutes won Wolves a penalty which they converted.

The bhoys put in a good display and made the EPL side look average.

The talking point before the game was about Carl not making the squad. Given there were rumours about a potential exit this summer, Celtic fans were fearing the worst.

CeltsAreHere was told by a source at the club this evening that Carl had picked up an ankle knock in training and was left behind to recover.

The defender is thought to be fine otherwise and should be ok to go for the Ross County game, and may play some part in James Forrest’s testimonial.

Carl’s absence today meant we had a centre-back pairing of Stephen Welsh and Liam Scales. We would hope that defensive partnership isn’t the norm during the season. Carl and CCV have been formidable domestically and we hope they can continue their dominance in the new campaign.
