Celtic’s game tonight against Hearts is the first of a crazy schedule of nine games in December. A time when a thin bare Celtic squad will need every bit of luck it can get in terms of injuries.

Just when it looked like Celtic were turning a corner with injuries another spanner was thrown into the works tonight when Carter-Vickers was absent from the matchday squad from completely out of nowhere.

The good news was that Tom Rogic and Carl Starfelt returned to the action tonight and went straight into the starting eleven. The return of Starfelt could not have come at a better time with CCV missing with the following explanation:

Carter-Vickers spent last season on loan at AFC Bournemouth, before featuring once under new Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo in a UEFA European Conference match, and then signing on a season-long loan in August 2021 at Paradise.

The Hoops sit in second place in the table, two points ahead of the Jambos, whose boss Robbie Neilson and his players are viewing the trip to Glasgow as a chance to leapfrog their opponents.

But the Celtic manager was quick to point out to the media this week the importance of taking things day by day and not looking forward too far ahead or getting distracted by shiny objects that don’t exist until the end of the season.
