CAMERON CARTER-VICKER’S heroics for his country during the week was not enough to get him a place in the starting XI against Holland on Saturday afternoon for the USA.

The Celtic defender was part of the US team who managed to get the all-important victory against Iran to qualify for the knockout phase.

It was disappointing to see the US name their side on Saturday and not have CCV in the heart of the defence. The Americans would go on to lose 3-1 to the Netherlands and have now bowed out of the competition.

While it will be personally disappointing for Cameron, for every cloud, there is a green lining, and with the US making their World Cup exit, the defender could be back in time to play against Aberdeen in two weeks.

Celtic are scheduled to kick off the second half of the season against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on December 17. CCV will have a break before joining up with his Celtic teammates, but the defender could be back in time to slip right back into defence alongside Carl Starfelt.

Aberdeen away is one of our more difficult away ties in the SPFL. It will be pivotal to continue to rack up wins just after the restart to make it clear the bhoys mean business. Any dropped points early on will give our rivals a boost.

If CCV is back and raring to go, there’s no reason why he can’t start.
