Celtic fans are used to their club making the top 20 of most world football charts. This one is impressive as it is a study carried out over five years and based on attendances. The report by CIES Football Observatory studied stadium attendances from all the main leagues between 2013 and 2018 with the aim of producing the top 50 supported teams in world football.

The Bhoys come in an impressive 16th with an average attendance of 49,697. Dortmund, United and Barcelona claimed the top three spots, Dortmund average an impressive 80,230.

Despite constant and annoying non-SPFL fans references to “tinpot league” it is worth noting that teams like Liverpool, Paris-Saint Germain and Juventus did not make the top 20.

Celtic Park is an iconic stadium around the world mainly because of European nights. This season in Europe 160,892 fans packed out Paradise all the way to February.

If you are currently looking for a season ticket at Celtic Park you will be disappointed as there is a waiting list. As the push for ten league titles in a row becomes more realistic the harder it has become to attend games as fans flock to watch a piece of history. Long may it continue.

  1. Are we to be treated to the opinions of Brendan Rodgers on all things Celtic from now on? Are we now Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic? You know in the way that Lazio became ‘Paul Gascoigne’s Lazio’? Like we never existed before an exEPL man showed up to give us credibility! We know how much Celtic really meant to Rodgers as he engineered a move for more cash for weeks/months while claiming to be in his dream job. Are we asking Tony Mowbray or Liam Brady what they think about retiring the number 5 shirt. Rodgers has nothing to do with celtic anymore. His opinions are irrelevant. he is now happy in his fantastic new home. He achieved much but has no real feeling for Celtic.
