NEIL LENNON was happy with his team’s performance on Wednesday night as they made it 4 wins in 4 against Ross County at Celtic Park.
It was 100 times better than what we had seen from this fixture a month ago when we were knocked out of the League Cup.
While we were comfortable we must now look at being more clinical in front of goal. Celtic could have been five ahead on the night had they brought their shooting boots.
A clean sheet will do the team the world of good going into the game with Hamilton on boxing day.
Speaking after the game, Neil Lennon told CelticTV.
“We should have won the game by more.
“If we keep playing like that we’re going to give somebody a right good going over.
“I’d have liked more goals because I think our play deserved that.
“But there was good intensity and real quality in some of the football. We scored two lovely goals.
“David’s was great. Jeremie Frimpong did very well to pick him out and he has the knack of being in the right place at the right time.
“Overall he had another very good performance. I am delighted with him.
“Griff got 80 minutes and scored a great goal – but he should have had a hat-trick.
“He is never short of confidence but he still needs to get sharper and he’ll say ‘Well, you need to play me’.
“I think the more he plays and stays fit he’ll be an asset for us going forward.
“The minutes will do Leigh a lot of good and he scored a great header.
“It was probably the hardest chance of them all.
“He got better as the game went on, his movement was really good and he scores great goals.
“Odsonne Edouard should have scored too and we missed some chances in the second half to rack up a really good scoreline.
“But the quality of the chances we made really pleased me.
“It was also a clean sheet and we didn’t look in any trouble.
“Frimpong, Diego Laxalt and the two centre halves were all good.
“We seem to be going in the right direction again.
“I am delighted with the whole team. It was a good performance.
“Overall I am really pleased and it’s a step in the right direction.
“It was a comfortable performance and a great three points.
“It was important to win and we’ll take it game-by-game.”
Celtic are still a massive 16 points behind first place at the moment, but they do have their games in hand to bring them back to just 7 points should they win all the games.
It’s going to be a tough ask but if the bhoys can get through their festive fixtures with some more wins, anything is possible.
We have to do better in general and we need the real Odsonne Edouard back!
If and if is a big if we can win our games in hand beat them or draw with them and they will not win all there games from now to end of season stats tell you me and them that they are only one game away from being knocked of track they know this as fact..
