ALISTAIR JOHNSTON revealed he lied to his international boss so he could take a spot in the team.
Speaking to CeltsAreHere this week, the new Celtic signing revealed the genesis of being turned into a right-sided centre-back and a full-back.
Johnston plays the right side of a back three for his country and only got the position when he told the Canadian boss he had played in that position before. He got to the next training camp and quickly learned how difficult the role was. It’s something Alistair really sunk his teeth into and a position he plays well now.

Alistair is very affable and was brilliant with fan media on the day. CeltsAreHere spoke to prominent Canadian sports journalist Peter Galindo, who told us he’s affable off the pitch but on the field, he’s a very different character.
The defender has a few weeks to settle in with the rest of the team before he’s eligible for selection. The Canadian certainly feels like a player who would fit into the squad and get on with this current group of players.
Ange signs players for their character as well as their talent.
