CELTIC has made a lot of money over the past ten years when you think of some of the players they have bought for next to nothing and then sold on for a very tidy price, although this writer reserves the right to stress that some of them were sold too cheaply.
From Fraser Forster to Virgil Van Dijk and the most recent of course is Moussa Dembele.
However, Celtic ambassador and legend Davie Hay has made it clear there’s a new man at the club who could go on to break Moussa Dembele’s transfer record given time and as the mind numbing morons try and put him on a par with Alfredo Morelos, Hay is clear who the top man is.
Writing in his Evening Times column, the former Celt wrote:
“The club is open about how it goes about its business. We scout for great young talent, develop them and then after a couple of years sell them for a massive profit.
“Odsonne Edouard is the next one. Moussa Dembele went to Lyon for £20million. This young lad will one day soon be in that price bracket.
“And I emphasise young because this is a 21-year-old. He’s just a baby in football terms.”
There’s no doubt about it, while Edouard continues to take flak from certain quarters the striker has shown he can score when it matters and has come up big for the bhoys in many games this season.
While he won’t yield as much a profit as Moussa Dembele because the club had to shell out a record-breaking sum to bring him to Glasgow; the Frenchman is certain to make the club a profit when he does go.
As a fan, I hope that’s not for a while yet!
