The Evening Standard have reported there has been several enquiries for potential Celtic target Victor Wanyama this window but Spurs valuation of the player has seen a stalemate.

The newspaper claim Tottenham are looking to get rid of the midfielder on a permanent deal and value Vic at £9m. With nobody biting the Evening standard claim the club will have to accept a cut price deal for the Kenyan if they want rid of him this month.

Wanyama is in the last 18-months of his deal now and nobody is going to be over the odds. The same report claims Wanyama’s pay packet is £62kpw – a figure Celtic could not match.

The paper writers:

“Tottenham may be forced to accept cut-price Victor Wanyama transfer fee.

“He enjoyed a fine debut campaign but has since struggled with injuries and fallen out of favour, with Celtic among those clubs interested in reviving his career”

Verdict

If Celtic do manage to bring Victor back this window it would likely be a last minute loan deal. Spurs want a permanent move and wouldn’t entertain a loan unless there was no other option. Celtic currently have Fraser Forster back on loan from Southampton and that deal has certainly revived the players career. Could Victor be tempted to follow suit?

Ultimately this would be a short term move and right now Celtic are looking for a defender before Friday. Signing Soro at defensive-mid could mean the club won’t shell out for Wanyama.

  1. Of course they won’t pay for Wanyama he is too expensive. Would be just the boost we need for the weeks ahead but a cheapo 2 million for a prospect from Israel is our level. League 1 signing, Conference levels of ambition.

  2. Bring him back get another 2 others moved on offer £45K a week offer £ 5 million for him then we got 9 and 10 and on we go come on bring him home…..

Do it Celtic push this boat out send the message out…

  3. Would love to see Vic back But

The mans a Midden. As much as Lenny is a Celt.He is just a Yes Man to the Board…
Typical Celtic taken the Cheap Route and Putting 9 and 10 in jeopardy

  4. We’d only pay 9 million if he was young and could be sold for a profit. We already sold him when he was young. It’s never going to happen. Who are we linked with next, Steven fletcher?
