According to reports, Celtic insisted on a clause to sign Fraser Forster in a permanent deal next summer which would mean the clubs have already agreed a potential fee for the Englishman.

The goalkeeper has rediscovered his love of football back at the club where he made his name the first time around and has reminded supporters how good he is.

With Southampton paying the goalkeeper large wages – it’s going to take a lot of compromise from the goalkeeper and some from Celtic if a full time deal is to be met.

Fraser has made a lot of money over the past few years in the Premier League – as he reaches the latter stages of his career the goalkeeper might look at nights like Lazio away and want more before he hangs up his gloves.

As for the clause itself – the EveningTimes seem pretty adamant it’s in Fraser’s loan deal terms.

The newspaper writes:

‘A clause was added to the move which would allow Celtic to sign the player on a permanent transfer, however financially, his wage packet could prove too much of a stumbling block for the pair to do business.

Will Celtic exercise the lucrative transfer option?

  1. There is no doubt we must keep Fraser. If he is willing to take a wage cut the board must do everything they can to sign him. Keeping Fraser should be our top priority right now.
