He won’t be known to many celtic supporters but Tobi Oluwayemi has signed a new deal with Celtic today, ensuring he stays with the club until at least 2023.

Tobi has been at the club since 2019 after leaving the Spurs Academy to join the hoops.

Speaking to the Celtic website, the 18-year-old was delighted to sign an extension:

“I played well last season and that led the club to offer me a new deal,” said Oluwayemi. “The pathway and vision seemed right for me so I’m really happy.

‘It’s a good feeling and it gives me more time to focus on doing what I need to do on the pitch and trying to progress on the pitch.’

“I’d love to eventually break into the first-team squad and be competing and playing at the highest level I possibly can. All you can ask for as a chance and seeing Conor Hazard getting chances to play is great. I’m younger than him so I’ll push and try to get a chance in the future as well.”

Tobi is at an age where he could very well be part of the first team squad next season but that will be up to Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian will run the rule over his team next week when he lands in Lennoxtown to properly begin his Celtic career.

CeltsAreHere have been told the manager has already been hard at work and has been setting things in motion from self-isolation.

The Hoops have a big season ahead where we must mix youth and experience and strike the balance to make a winning team again.

Tobi could take the place of Hazard, Bain or Barkas in the team – it’s highly unlikely all three goalkeepers will be here by the end of the windo.
