CELTIC have this morning announced the signing off Armstrong Okoflex – a former Arsenal prodigy that has given up his chance at an Arsenal scholarship to join the bhoys.

The announcement came out of nowhere after the player was already spotted at Celtic Park posing with his Celtic shirt over a month ago and has since been training with the first team squad.

Speaking to CelticFC.net the 16-year-old was ‘thrilled’ to make it official.

“It feels good for it to be all official,” he said. “This is a massive club and one that plays in Europe, while Celtic are also known for bringing young players through their Academy to their first team. I feel I have a chance to progress here and this is the right club for me at the moment.

“I had a meeting with Brendan Rodgers and he was very convincing. He’s a great manager with all the success he’s had at previous clubs and at Celtic, and he was one of the big factors in coming here.”

The teenager can play on the left side as an attacking midfielder and will now be working hard to progress for the Celtic reserves in order to fulfill his potential.

We reported on the deal over a month ago in Mid-july.
