Our hearts were broken this week when Marvin Compper’s Celtic stay came to an end after a year and a half of the best bit of signing banter we’ve had in quite some time.

The German defender played 80 minutes for Celtic in that time during a Scottish Cup tie against Morton. It’s well documented that Line of Duty star Martin Compston made more appearances for Celtic than the defender.

There has a been a lot of player exits this summer for the bhoys, so much so, the club’s official website took the time on Sunday morning to wish all the players well for their future – it included everyone! Even Scott Allan who will be a rival of Celtic’s next season with Hibernian. The list also included the lesser known reserve players who were also on their way.

It appears while wishing all these other players well, Celtic missed out two former bhoys in Marvin Compper and Timo Weah. Maybe they left Compper out because they wished him well during the week but Timo Weah being left out could be to do with the way his loan period ended.

Here is the full list from the official Celtic website article:

‘Celtic Football Club wishes Dorus all the very best in his future endeavours, and extends the same gratitude to departing players Emilio Izaguirre, Cristian Gamboa, Regan Hendry, Dedryck Boyata, Mikael Lustig, Filip Benkovic, Scott Allan, Youssouf Mulumbu, Oliver Burke and Jeremy Toljan.

Likewise, the club wishes every success to its outgoing reserve players Reece Willison, Ross McLaughlin, Wallace Duffy, Thomas Caffrey, Lewis Bell, Ciaran Diver, PJ Crossan and Kristi Marku’
