CELTIC fans will have to wait a little longer to see full crowds or even sizeable crowds return to Celtic Park.

Nicola Sturgeon put the breaks on bigger crowds getting inside stadiums in level 0 so they can remain on course to reduce most restrictions on August 9th.

The one caveat the First Minister did give was clubs and sports could apply for larger crowds on a case by case basis.

CeltsAreHere can confirm this afternoon that Celtic have applied to the Scottish government to have a larger crowd for their Champions League qualifier.

Celtic Park has a 60,000 capacity – there’s no reason why concessions can’t be made for such a large arena. However, the can of worms that would get opened if some clubs were allowed more fans than others would see the typical pettiness in Scottish football rear its ugly head.

Celtic are living in hope more than expectation over the government’s decision and we’d expect the club to give an update on proceedings shortly.
