Celtic are in the market for another centre back this window. The club look set to announce new striker Albian Ajeti today but according to MailSport, they’re also making progress on a centre back deal.
The paper claims Neil Lennon has held talks with Ireland’s Shane Duffy this week about a season long loan deal.
MailSport writes: ‘No nonsense defender Duffy discussed a one year loan deal with Neil Lennon earlier this week.’
A lot of Celtic fans have been crying out for a more physical no nonsense defender and believe Duffy could be the man to fill that role.
The Irishman is only 28 and is currently out of favour at Brighton. There are more than a few clubs after his signature and with Celtic apparently only looking at a loan deal it could disadvantage them against the likes of West Ham who could make a permanent move for the centre back.
It’s positive Celtic have st least asked the question. There’s no indication how the talks have gone to this point.
Duffy would add something different to the defence and could be part of a three man defence in a 3-5-2 formation.
How says he’s a no nonsense defender? He’s rubbish
