BARRY FERGUSON has told the Go Radio phone-in that Celtic ARE stoppable, but then quickly shifted to hopes for next season while there’s still two trophies up for grabs this year.

The former Ibrox captain has watched Celtic steamroll everyone in their way as of late, including Michael Beale’s side. However, he’s pinning his hopes on what goes on behind the scenes in the next four months heading into next season.

Ferguson said: “They are a very good team but they’re stoppable – there’s no doubt.

“Rangers need to make sure they get their signings spot on in the summer with their recruitment.

“There’s no denying that they’re (Celtic) on absolute fire just now, winning games and going to difficult places and getting results.

“It’s up to Rangers to try and stop that.

“The next three or four months is massive for Rangers going into next season.

“Rangers know what they need to do. They need to keep on their coattails in the league but it’s going to be very difficult.

“One thing they need to do is keep that Scottish Cup at Ibrox.”

At this moment in time, Celtic haven’t lost to the Ibrox club in the league since August 2021 – two months after Ange Postecoglou took over when he was still finding his way.

The one other victory came in extra time in the Scottish Cup when Celtic were in the midst of an injury crisis that saw Anthony Ralston finish as our left back and Stephen Welsh as our right back.

The hoops are more robust, and as we’ve witnessed throughout the season, when one player drops out injured, Ange has another player waiting in the wings so the bhoy’s don’t skip a beat.

Ferguson has a bit of hope and wishful thinking going on at present. We as Celtic fans have seen this story a million times. The talking off the field about coming close to Celtic and just ‘just you wait until next season’. In reality, the only time the Ibrox club have enjoyed is pandemic football, infant of ZERO fans with no pressure at all on them.

We were told Celtic were going to fold like a house of cards after losing one league title. Now we’ve got Ibrox pundits hoping Celtic can be stopped. Fantastic.
