Ross County have sent Celtic’s ticket allocation to the Parkhead club ahead of their SPFL tie on August 6 at the Global Energy Stadium.

The Scottish Champions have been handed only 1,399 tickets for the game leaving supporters scrambling for a brief.

When you look at the parameters set just to simply be put in a ballot, it makes for grim reading.

CelticFCTickets confirmed: • A random ballot on Season Ticket Holders who have attended 11 away fixtures in Season 21/22, 14 away fixtures in Season 19/20 and 19 away fixtures in Season 18/19.

That’s how high the bar has to be set because of the lack of tickets.

When we turn up at Dingwall, there will be plenty of empty seats at the ground but an unwillingness to give more to Celtic even though the demand is there. Many Scottish clubs have chosen to lock out paying fans for tribal reasons and to appease their own supporters while taking a hit in the pocket.

You won’t find many examples of a business turning down money the way clubs do in the SPFL.

The other frustrating thing for supporters is the monopoly a certain number of fans have on away tickets. The system has been going for years and rightly awards loyalty, however, it doesn’t allow for new fans to get their foot on the ladder.

For people who now have the free time and the cash to spare to follow Celtic away from home, the facility for them to do so isn’t there.

You see away spares going a decent amount of the time, meaning the people who are afforded the opportunity to get tickets simply sell them on if they can’t go and keep themselves on the ladder.

While the majority of seats should go to the fans who have followed the club for years, they have to find a way of allowing new supporters to get a chance the older fans were once afforded.

Sadly, the club has no real appetite to address this imbalance.

  1. It is very sad that clubs are instigating this policy for visiting fans, is not that we can reciprocate it as they don’t have that many who travel. They will be the first to bleat when they hit financial restraints and say that there is no money in scottish football when through their own fault their stadiums are lying half empty.Personally I will not purchase any teas or coffees at these ground a small token of resentment, if they were filling their stadiums then fair play but they are not so must suffer the consequences.

  2. I know it won’t happen, but if supporters had any gumption, they would boycott these clubs. Wouldn’t take long for them to come looking for the money ! Money talks and the loss of ticket revenue and associated goods at the stadia would soon hit hard. Don’t forget the hit on local businesses as well, pubs, shops, taxis etc.

  3. The unfairness of Celtic’s method of allocating away tickets remains a scandal.

Been a closed shop for years with no opportunity for even STH of several years to obtain away tickets other than at Livvy.

Should be open ballot to all STH giving everyone a fair shake, we all pay the same price for a ST.

None of us saw matches during the covid season.

Our away ticket allocation continues to suffer because a significent element of our entitled away fans continue with their pyros & IRA worship and other clubs now prefer the empty seats & the subsequent loss of revenue than have more fans behaving like morons.

The entitled won’t care as they know JP continues to ensure they are guaranteed an away ticket for life.
