Celtic WILL have a presence in the Scottish Lowland league next season and it’s all about getting our young players back into competitive games.

The Hoops reserves have suffered from a lack of game time – their development non-existent at times. Many hopefuls have been loaned out and scattered across the leagues in a bid to get some game time. Some deals have worked out better than others.

The big thing about having a colt side in the league means theoretically the new manager will be able to get the young side playing the same system as they do at first team level.

The benefit being any youngster called up will know what exactly their role is in the team and the transition will be much easier. Of course, the step up in opposition will be the challenge but any player worth their salt should make the transition.

There are strict rules for Celtic as they get set to enter the lowland league.

Stephen McGowan let us in on some of the restrictions the club will have to abide by during their spell in the league.

– Celtic and Rangers pay £25k each as one season entry fee.

– Minimum 22 players to be submitted before the season starts.

– If a player plays 5 games for first team he can’t play for B team until next window.

– Max age is U-20 with one U-21 outfield and one U-21 goalkeeper.

Celtic fans could be at a Celtic colt game before their back supporting the first team Hoops. These games could be open to the public as early as July.
