CELTIC are stepping up their pursuit of new January signings by entering into negotiations with Dunajska Streda over a deal for their prolific striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo.

MailSport revealed the club have confirmed they have had a bid for Vakoun’s services from the Scottish Champions and are keen to ‘negotiate’ a price after Celtic’s initial £1.75million opening offer.

Speaking about the potential deal to MailSport, Streda’s Sporing Director Jan Van Daele said: ‘We confirm we have received an official offer from Celtic of which we acknowledged receipt. We are planning to start the negotiation process in due course.’

The Ivory Coast born star has scored 14 goals in 25 appearances for his club this season so far and they want to make sure if he does go, it’s for the right price.

Celtic are in the market for two strikers and if these negotiations go well, they could have two on their books by next week with the news Timothy Weah is set to sign with the club on-loan.

Celtic have been struggling in December with only one fir striker and when Edouard went down with an injury during the Salzburg game it made the rest of the 2018 campaign a struggle.

Let’s hope the manager and his scouting staff have done their homework!
