A scathing attack was launched at Brendan Rodgers in today’s Scottish Sun, where the paper appears to be briefed from someone inside the club.
They claimed Brendan Rodgers is “the only manager in the club’s history who has repeatedly questioned things.”
While intended as a criticism, the quote reads more like a backhanded compliment and a damning reflection on the club’s internal culture.
Rodgers, since returning to the club, has made no secret of his frustration with the lack of urgency and ambition in Celtic’s transfer dealings.
He urged the board to “show ambition” earlier this summer and openly questioned the timing of recruitment. Those remarks, according to reports, haven’t gone down well in the boardroom.
But the question is — why not?
Rodgers, by all accounts, is doing what supporters want: holding the club to higher standards. He’s asking for the backing a manager of his calibre deserves, particularly after a summer window that left the squad undeniably weaker.

Rather than match his ambition, some insiders at Celtic appear to be whispering to the press, laying the blame for internal tensions at the feet of a manager who, for all his faults, is trying to drive the club forward.
If Rodgers truly is the only one in the club’s history questioning the way things are run, that doesn’t reflect poorly on him. It reflects poorly on everyone else.
Celtic’s next game is against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Brendan Rodgers will be keeping a low profile until then, but when it’s time for the usual pre-match press conference, the Hoops boss will be inundated by questions about the deadline day fiasco and now being briefed against.
You can blame Rodgers all you like for the squad, but briefing against your own manager in the papers – while ignoring a furious fanbase – is beyond the pale.
What are we going to get from this board? A carefully scripted Celtic TV interview conducted by people whose wages are dependent on the Celtic board?

Blame geme?? Easy Tae cast stones when your sitting inside a armoured car!!!!!
Cfc Plc will never learn, the higher to tower the weaker it’s supports.
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Ange and Lenny also ask the board to get the finger out and get some signings over the line to help their teams too? Typical of our board, won’t speak to the fans but good squealing to their media messengers
Their corporate greed is there for all to see and the asset stripping will continue unabated by this board as they believe the supporters and manager are there to be used and disposed of as they see fit , just follow the money a famous phrase from watergate and we should stop giving them your money
Scottish media are loving this you would think he is and the board are at odds with signing but when media get Celtic in their sights trigger gets pulled i dont blame reporters editors pick stories and send reporters out and then picks the words id say Rodgers has spent more than any manager than any Celtic manager look at across the Clyde fans are sack everybody but how have gave manager money not there’s remeber how many papers said how many billionaires are in to buy the club thats paper editors and BBC we are Celtic stand together we have a squad to win this league we have one player maeda after window closes says Celtic blocked his transfer we know no player is bigger than the club he gmhas gave us his all and he can go away head held high till this news broke and why to disrubt the dressing room fans some fans have already put thought into mind of one player Celtic tried to sign saying the fallout between fans again some fans green brigade and board then he comes out week later that he couldn’t refuse going back to ajax who do u believe we know its to make Celtic look in dissaray we will see how much it damage the team against Kilmarnock mind plastic pitch aye and thats nothing to do with players minds spl is our problem they dont wants us hate us winning every year but they know cant do without our supporters
