Celtic’s board has doubled down on its long-term football strategy, telling supporters in Friday’s meeting that the plan remains to dominate domestically, qualify regularly for the Champions League, and maintain financial sustainability.
The board was keen to stress that Brendan Rodgers is “aligned” on all recruitment matters, with a clear claim that no player has been signed without his approval. That line, however, has raised eyebrows among sections of the support who are unconvinced by recent arrivals and have questioned whether Rodgers truly has full the final say over signings.

Concerns were also addressed around spending levels, with the board calling out media reports as “inaccurate.” They insisted the club’s actual outlay was higher than reported, although no figures were provided to back up the claim. The timing of this clarification, coming after weeks of supporter unrest, did little to settle the debate around transfer ambition.
The club also pointed to structural changes behind the scenes. Paul Tisdale has taken up the role of Head of Football Operations, and Shaun Maloney has been appointed as Player Pathway Manager. Both appointments are aimed at improving recruitment processes and better integrating the first team with the club’s youth system.
While the board outlined its strategy with confidence, the gap between message and perception remains wide. Many fans continue to ask the same question: if Rodgers signs off on every deal, why haven’t the club’s transfer windows better reflected the urgency of his ambitions?

It is easy for the Board to say Rodgers approves every transfer but if you are only presenting him with the Board’s decisions as opposed to what the manager has requested the, for me that is a hollow argument.
For example the manager may request players A, B, and C and the Board come back and say you can have X, Y, or Z. The manager may accept one of the latter but that indicates he has no other option.
Rodgers then may turn tound and refuse to play the player which helps no one.
If the Board aren’t in step with the recruitment team, and are doing their own work, then the system is flawed.
The guy from Manchester City looks as if he is caught up in this type of scenario: someone has used their contracts book but the manager doesn’t really fancy him so he’s omitted him from the Europa League squad. I can see his loan agreement being terminated in January.
Player prices huv risen since tha covalent years. Huv Cfc Plc been hidin under a rock??
Why of course not!!;! they know, they huv sold almost two teams of players.
And every time they never bled. We do that for them.
