Celtic are set to face a tough week of football with it being confirmed that the game against Ross County in the Premier Sports cup will take place on Wednesday 31 August.

It was potentially the hardest tie the Hoops could have been given away from home with the Staggies having topped their group even though the opposition wasn’t up to much.

Dingwall is always a difficult place to visit due to the journey length and the tight pitch with the Hoops managing to win both matches up there last season in what was very nervy affairs.

There will be no time to rest for the Scottish Champions who will have hopefully put their name in the hat for the quarter final of the cup before they take on Glasgow rivals Rangers at Celtic Park in the first derby match of the season.

Overall, Celtic got the better of Ibrox side in the league during the last campaign with two victories, a draw and a defeat.

The Hoops headed to Ibrox badly prepared in the first game last season with a starting line up consisting of Hart, Ralston, Welsh, Starfelt, Juranovic, Christie, McGregor, Turnbull, Abada, Edouard and Kyogo.

Two of those players would depart the club following the game with the side that blew van Bronckhorst’s side away in February being completely different. It will be a tasty clash.

To conclude the week, Postecoglou’s side will have their first experience of Champions League football with the competition getting underway on the 6 September.

The Hoops will find out their opposition and fixture scheduling on the 25 August.

Ange Postecoglou is continually emphasising the importance of a robust squad with strength in depth and these fixtures absolutely demonstrate why.

There won’t be much room for adaptation in any of these games meaning every player need to be prepared to contribute if they are needed.
