NEIL LENNON believes the players and fans will be up for the Lazio game come Thursday night s the bhoys look to cause an upset.

The Celtic manager conceded when the draw was made Lazio would have been favourites to top the group and that probably hasn’t changed. The Irishman knows the quality of the Italian’s and believes Celtic need to be at their very best to get a result.

It’s match-day three in the Europa League and Celtic have four points out of six at the minute and currently top the group.

Lazio will be looking to shock the Celtic Park crowd and take the initiative in the group.

Speaking to CelticTV, the manager said:

“Lazio are a class team, Serie A side with a great pedigree, it’s a glamour game for us. It’s mouth watering for the players and supporters.

“Most people would’ve fancied Lazio as favourites in the group when it was made

“There’re so many incentives for the players going into this game.

“We do know the league is thee priority, no question about that and that will remain the same right up until the end of May. But I want to enhance our European reputation – we have European players who have so far proven they can play at that level.

“It’s a big game under the lights which is what the fans crave and the players crave.”

Celtic got a draw against Rennes in France and followed it up with a revenge mission against Cluj in the last round of fixtures. It would be something special to get a result at Celtic Park on Thursday night.

Neil clearly making sure supporters know the league is what’s most important but it shouldn’t stop us from trying to reach another level in Europe.
