Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has been full of praise, following the atmosphere within Hampden Park in yesterday’s 1-0 win over St Johnstone.

It was an emotional evening for the support, paying tribute to club legend Bertie Auld after his passing last week. Just as the Celtic support have in years gone by, they really put on a show at Hampden on Saturday evening.

This left Postecoglou full of praise for the support and their backing for the team as they reached the final of the Premier Sports cup.

“The players can’t think because we’re a new group, it’s OK to make a semi-final or not win silverware,” Ange said, as cited by the Daily Record.

“We have to set these standards from the beginning. The players rose to that challenge today.

“Everyone understands the rebuild we had to do. But even when we were having a difficult period, I haven’t made excuses for anyone.

“We should be measured against the benchmarks already set at this club. If we fall short, it’s up to us to make sure we improve.

“Today was important for our supporters because I thought they were outstanding. The atmosphere was brilliant. This is where they want to be as well, getting behind their team in big games, on a big stage.”

Many fans also praised the impressive atmosphere created within Hampden on Saturday, with some incredible tributes towards Bertie, before and during the game.

Thankfully, the players also did their jobs last night and made sure that Hoops supporters would be making another trip to Mount Florida next month.

We can only hope that it will be yet another successful trip, but for now, we can enjoy and embrace clips surfacing online from yesterday.
